I have been a member of Dumfries Camera Club since the early 1980s and for most of that time I have been a member of the club committee and have served as Club President on several occasions. During this time I have also been involved in the organisation and running of a number of major events e.g. the Scottish International Salon.

For a number of years I also sat on the Western Area Committee of the Northern Counties Photographic Federation (NCPF) and was also Secretary for some of that time.

Since its inception I have been involved in co-ordinating the print handling team at the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) Inter-Club Print Competition.

Additionally, I have  been a member of the Scottish Photographic Federation  (SPF) Executive Committee for the past few years and am responsible for co-ordinating the inter club portfolio competition as well as the SPF entry to the PAGB Inter-Club Competition. Between 2018-2020 I had the great honour to serve as SPF President.

I have been judging at club, inter-club and federation level for a number of years and have also had the privilege of judging at National and International Salon level for various events. I also lecture to numerous clubs across the country.

My true photographic journey started off back in the darkroom days with monochrome work and later with cibachrome, although now all of my work (prints and PDIs) is produced digitally. I have been a keen supporter of national and international salons over the years as well as exhibiting locally. Having the attention span of a gnat I tend to become easily bored so don't concentrate on any one particular type of photography. Instead I'll have a go at most subjects and techniques and particularly enjoy working on panels of pictures based on a theme. Recently I have had a particular interest in travel photography following trips to Myanmar, China, India, Vietnam, Cambodia and Brazil.
